Courtesy of John Schumacher (Bristol, UK): I found a somewhat convoluted solution that works for me; I am using Illustrator (CS4), Acrobat Pro (version 9) and BBEdit (but any text editor would work). (1) open output from psvdraw in a text editor. (2) Insert "%%IncludeFont: MyriadPro-Regular" after line 5 of the postscript file. (3) do a global "Find and Replace" which substitutes "MyriadPro- Regular" for "helvetica" and save. (4) open the modified postscript file in Acrobat Pro (version 9, which will cause Acrobat Distiller to run and convert the file to a PDF in the background. (5) edit PDF further in Illustrator if you wish. The resulting PDF is editable in Illustrator. Myriad Pro is Illustrator's default typeface, which is the reason for my choice above. All done on an intel Mac running OSX 10.6.1.
